The Hoyt Alpha AX-3 SD is engineered specifically for short-draw archers who want maximum performance, tuning precision, and a smooth, efficient draw cycle within a compact bow platform. As the short-draw model in the 2026 Alpha X lineup, the AX-3 SD combines Hoyt’s latest riser geometry with the highly refined HBX SD cam and the new XTS Tuning System™, creating a bow that is easy to tune, extremely forgiving, and optimized for shooters drawing between 23–27 inches (58.42–68.58 cm).

At 29.5 in (74.93 cm) axle-to-axle, the AX-3 SD offers excellent maneuverability while maintaining impressive hold stability for its size. The bow’s 6 in (15.24 cm) brace height adds forgiveness to the short-draw shot cycle, ensuring consistent groups even when shooting under pressure. With a mass weight of 4.25 lbs (1.93 kg), the bow balances naturally and remains comfortable during multi-hour practice sessions, 3D events, or target rounds.

The HBX SD cam is the centerpiece of the AX-3 SD’s performance. Specifically engineered for shorter draw lengths, this cam optimizes energy storage and transfer, maintaining speed and efficiency even with a reduced power stroke. Short-draw archers benefit greatly from the cam’s smooth rotation and adjustable 75–85% let-off, allowing for improved hold time and a controlled anchor position. The bow delivers 310 FPS ATA and 310 FPS at 27 inches, making it one of the most efficient short-draw bows in its class.
